Increased use of tech in Gibraltar courts.

The 2020 edition of The Middle Templar focuses on some of the biggest issues that not only the legal profession have faced, but also society in general over the last 12 months.

I was pleased to be able to contribute a piece on the increased use of legal technology in the Gibraltar Courts which can be found on p.49. The edition also includes articles on The Black Lives Matter Movement, BAME and Equality and Diversity at the Bar and How Covid-19 has affected not just the Bar of England and Wales, but also members abroad.

On Tuesday 24th March 2020, the case of Fowler v Commissioners for Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs [2020] UKSC 22 made history as it became the first case in the Supreme Court in England and Wales to be conducted entirely over video. In Gibraltar, facilities to deal with matters over video were also put to use for the first time.
